La fugitiva is a bookstore and café located between the neighbourhoods of Lavapiés and Huertas. The first time I entered this bookstore was out of curiosity and I’m happy I did. Later you’ll find out why. Firstly, I love La Fugitiva’s exterior and its transparency to the public. In other words, entering is not needed to see if you like the interior or not. But never mind! You will like this place regardless. Once inside La Fugitiva you’ll feel comfortable and as if you were at home.
Read a book in Spanish!
Check out La Fugitiva’s collection of books in Spanish. You’ll find works of great writers like Gabriel García Marquez but also books for children of all ages. So don’t worry about your Spanish level because there will definitely be something adequate for you to test and practice what you’ve been learning at Inhispania. They also have a collection of books in English starting from 4,50 Euros.
Tropical Flavours in Madrid
Next to sodas and juices, La Fugitiva also has a wide variety of teas and infusions. Try their pineapple+papaya+coco infusion. This hot tropical blend presented in a beautiful antique teapot was all a needed to return to this bookstore. The prices are also really friendly. I paid 4 euros for the infusion and a delicious homemade vegan chocolate cake. And it was pretty big as well!
La Fugitiva is a perfect place to do your work. There is a strong Wi-Fi connection and the password can easily be found on the menu. Keep in mind that the tables can be reserved with the maximum time of 3 hours per consumption. The staff is friendly, helpful and can also assist you in English. However, this is obviously not needed when you have class from our awesome Inhispania teachers .
So, in case you’re looking for a place to do homework or just to relax, La Fugitiva is definitely worth checking out!
