Course Structure and Schedule

The Erasmus student program combines two complementary course formats:

Initial Intensive Course (1-4 weeks):
- 20 classes per week (45 minutes each)
- Monday to Friday schedule
- Designed to be taken before university classes begin
- Provides a strong foundation in Spanish before academic studies commence
Follow-up Evening Course (12 or 24 weeks):
- 4 hours per week (2 sessions of 2 hours each)
- Classes held Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 19:00 o’clock to 21:00 o’clock
- Compatible with university schedules
- Maximum 9 students per group
- Helps address grammar issues that can’t be asked about in university classes

This dual structure allows students to gain intensive language exposure before university classes begin, followed by ongoing support throughout their academic term. The small class size in evening courses ensures personalized attention to address specific language challenges.

Certifications

Upon successful completion, requiring at least 80% attendance, you’ll be awarded an official Certificate of Attendance and Achievement. As a center accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, Inhispania also provides on-site SIELE testing and tailored DELE exam preparation, enabling you to secure internationally recognized Spanish proficiency credentials.

Optional University Credits

One of the great benefits of joining a Spanish Course at Inhispania as an Erasmus student is that you can obtain official ECTS university credits thanks to our partnership with UDIMA (Distance University of Madrid). This collaboration allows your Spanish studies at Inhispania to be academically validated by your sending university or academic institution, giving your Erasmus experience in Spain both official recognition and additional academic value.

The certification cost is €120 per accredited level. By completing a full level of our Intensive Spanish Courses (from A1 to B2), students can obtain the following credits: A1 – 7.5 ECTS (5 weeks), A2 – 6 ECTS (4 weeks), B1 – 12 ECTS (8 weeks), B2.1 – 9 ECTS (6 weeks), and B2.2 – 9 ECTS (6 weeks).

This official accreditation not only enhances your academic profile, but also makes your time abroad more meaningful and productive — helping you make the most of your Erasmus experience while studying Spanish in the heart of Madrid.

Inhispania’s teaching methodology is based on:

Communicative method: Focusing on practical language use in real-life contexts.
Student-centered learning: Adapting to individual needs and learning styles.
Small group sizes: Maximum 9 students per group in evening courses ensures personalized attention.
Native Spanish teachers: All instructors are native Spanish speakers with specialized training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

The school emphasizes practical skills that students will need in their university studies, helping them develop confidence in using Spanish academically and socially.

Course Materials

From theory to practice — you’ll see how grammar comes to life in real communication. As an Erasmus student, you’ll benefit from learning materials specifically designed to help you use Spanish confidently and effectively. Upon registration, you’ll receive our Gramática de uso del español, a practical reference book with clear explanations, over 450 exercises, and answer keys — perfect for reviewing key structures at your own pace. In class, you’ll work with renowned textbooks such as Aula Plus and C de C1 (Difusión), available through our book lending service. Lessons are enriched with authentic resources like articles, podcasts, and videos, and optional access to an online platform for extra self-study and reinforcement.

A significant advantage of studying at Inhispania is their extensive program of extracurricular activities, which has made the school a social hub for Erasmus students from across Europe.

Inhispania organizes regular activities to help students practice Spanish, discover Madrid, and make friends. If you choose the intensive course option, you’ll enjoy even more activities during the first few weeks, giving you more opportunities to socialize, explore, and integrate.

Monday: Welcome event at the school
Tuesday: Walking tour of Madrid
Wednesday: Visit to a museum
Thursday: Conversation Exchange
Friday: Tapas with teachers
Saturday: Excursion to nearby towns such as Toledo or Segovia

These are just examples of possible activities. They are not mandatory but are highly recommended to enhance the learning experience and build social connections.

Benefits of Participation

The activities program offers multiple advantages:

Practice Spanish in real-life situations
Learn about Spanish culture firsthand
Make friends with other international students
Discover Madrid and surrounding areas
Create a social network during your Erasmus stay

A great way to expand your social circle in Madrid is by joining Erasmus WhatsApp groups, where you’ll find plenty of information about local events and meet other international students. You can also connect with au pairs or young professionals working in the city — many of them are in the same situation as you: new to Madrid and looking to make friends. Be open to spontaneous connections, whether through classmates, flatmates, or even people working at language schools. Often, the best friendships start simply by meeting others who, like you, are far from home and eager to share experiences.
