1. HAVE PATIENCE
Learning Spanish takes time. Think about how much time it took you to learn your own language :-). Like with anything, learning something new requires practice. When a student asks us, “Howlong will it take me to learn Spanish?” our response is that it depends on lots of factors: for example, if your native language is similar to Spanish, what other languages you speak, your age, your natural ability to learn other languages, etc. If you are at a beginner´s level and you want to reach a good level (B1-B2), we would recommend studying an intensive course for 12-20 weeks. However, in order to gain just a basic understanding of the language, or to put into practice everything that you have learnt, a shorter course of 2-8 weeks may be more suitable.
2. TRY TO PRACTICE YOUR SPANISH EVERY DAY, EVEN IF IT IS JUST FEW MINUTES
If you don´t live in a Spanish speaking country, look for videos of Spanish songs on the internet, ask yourself how you would say a particular word in Spanish and memorize it, try to read a small pieces of text or articles from Spanish newspapers, look for groups in Spanish on your social network sites, etc. All these simple ideas will really help you to learn Spanish bit by bit, much more than you can imagine! Of course, if you do a Spanish course whilst immersing yourself linguistically in a Spanish speaking country, you will get many more opportunities to practice your Spanish.
3. DON´T BE SCARED TO SPEAK SPANISH
Always take advantage of opportunities to speak with a native, even if it´s just a simple conversation. Don´t worry about making mistakes. Native Spanish speakers also struggle when they try to learn other languages and they will definitely be patient with you. Doing a conversation exchange with a native Spanish speaker is always a good idea to practice and learn more Spanish.
4. USE THE SUPPORT OF A PROFESSIONAL
